How a Google search changed my whole fkn life
and then motherhood made me do it all again...
I'd just been made redundant. I was on Centrelink and in debt and I remember sitting there googling how to make money online doing admin.
Within 14 days I was booked out as a virtual assistant charging $30 an hour from my ex boyfriend's bedroom with nothing but a laptop and figuring it out energy. That became a social media management business and then business and mindset coaching aka a business that was completely mine.
Business before motherhood was all the hours. I preached 10k months and did the blazer photoshoots and I loved every bit of it. I built like someone with nothing else competing for her time because I had nothing else competing for my time.
Then my son arrived and the way I'd built stopped fitting. For a while I was terrified the ambition had gone with it. It hadn't. It just needed a business built around a kid who comes first.
So I built it a second time. When I was rebuilding from bed I had 40 minutes a day and I had to get very good at knowing what mattered. I relaunched This Is Mira Claudia in March 2025 with the same bones I'd used for 3 businesses and one new layer. Value-aligned first.
It was harder than I'd like to admit. I hated Instagram and resented my own business for 6 months. Some days I told myself I'd go back to corporate, the exact life I'd escaped.
At my most vulnerable an ad promising a guaranteed $10K month finally got me. I paid for a program that sold me the world on a sales call and hid a paid ads checklist in the fine print. 90 days later I was in exactly the same place, partially refunded and ignored when I asked what to do next.
That's when I realised the support I'd been searching for was me. I went back to my own method and let more of me into my content. Scary, then like coming home. It's also why I make no promises except my role, and yours is clear before you ever sign.
I run this business in 12 to 16 hours a week and I pick my son up from kinder early. I'm not on my phone all day. I pick up Telegram on the days I've allowed because the boundaries and systems are in place. One of my Mentorship payments landed while I was on the floor playing in his room.
The hours I do work are spent inside other mums' businesses telling them what the next move is. Not recycled strategy and not advice built for someone with an empty calendar.
