From a collection of ideas to a business that runs

@fitt_siss

  • Client Whitney Poaru
  • Business FITT SISS
  • Support 1:1 mentorship
  • Time with me 6 months

Whitney runs FITT SISS with 2 small kids at home. Her business is postpartum strength for mums, offering group coaching and local in person sessions in Mornington, Victoria. Every 1:1 client fills out an in depth onboarding form before we start. This is where Whitney was when she filled out hers. Then this is where she's at now, in her own words.

01

Where she started

The last question on my form asks if there's anything else she wants me to know. She was honest.

Onboarding form answer: I'm honestly so excited but also so nervous about starting. I sometimes think I'm just too dumb to run a business and I tend to get very frustrated with myself when I don't know how to do things quickly.

She didn't have a lot of time to give her business. She wanted to know exactly where that time should go.

Onboarding form answer to what would make this mentorship a huge success: having a better understanding of the best way to spend the small amount of time I have on my business to make it better and more profitable.

Clients were where she felt the most overwhelmed.

Onboarding form answer to where do you feel the most overwhelmed: trying to get clients, like where else can I find them?

She had more ideas than she could execute and no clear order to do them in. She also needed more people to know REBUILD existed.

Onboarding form answer listing her 3 biggest challenges: having too many ideas but no clue how to execute them, knowing how to prioritise what needs to be done first, and spreading the word about REBUILD to gain clients.

Her website was deactivated and needed a full revision. The foundations were there but none of it was streamlined or set up for growth yet.

Starting notes: Website currently deactivated and in need of full revision. While these foundations exist they are not yet streamlined, automated or optimised for growth.

We stripped it back

Whitney had a business with too many ideas sitting on top of it. We didn't add more. Here's how she describes what we did instead.

"Mira taught me to stop trying to build more on top of my business and instead strip it right back to the foundations. To make sure I actually understood what I was building, who it was for, how it worked and why and then we built from there."Whitney Poaru

Her business also had to fit 2 small kids and the time she really had. That meant getting clear on what she offers and when, and letting the right clients fit inside that.

"She's helped me become really clear on what I can offer, when I can offer it, and trust that the right clients will fit within that rather than me constantly trying to make everything fit everyone."Whitney Poaru

Whitney put the work in. In her words it took some very hard work to get here. She also said not once did she feel dumb for asking a question or showing me something she was working on.

The bookings

Both of my 1:1 mentorships run in writing. She sends me written check ins and every one has a wins section. It started with this.

Check in wins: I have sold 4 August REBUILD spots already, woohoo.

Then this landed in Telegram.

Telegram message: August REBUILD has officially sold out!

The sales were only half of it. Look at what she wrote next to them.

Check in wins: Sold 5 REBUILD spots and I've started thinking much more strategically about building a sustainable business model that works long term, rather than making short-term decisions based on immediate income.
Check in wins: Sold out my August REBUILD intake before the program started.

Then she told me about her week ahead.

I've also got a really exciting week ahead client-wise: 10 new REBUILD mums starting, five mums moving into REBUILD Ongoing and two new EVOLVE clients starting. Seeing those three parts of the business operating alongside each other feels like a pretty big milestone and like the client pathway we've been working on is actually happening in real life!

10 new REBUILD mums. 5 moving into REBUILD Ongoing. 2 new EVOLVE clients. All in the same week.

The back end

Bookings are the part people see. The part that keeps them coming is how the business runs behind the scenes. Filling one intake is a great week. Whitney is thinking about the whole business now.

My biggest win is probably that I'm no longer just thinking about how to fill the next REBUILD intake. I'm starting to think about how REBUILD operates as a sustainable long-term part of FITT SISS.

We spent a lot of our time together on her client pathway. That's how a woman moves between REBUILD, REBUILD Ongoing and EVOLVE. Here's how she talks about seeing it work.

Seeing the client pathway we've spent so much time working on actually operating in real life feels like a huge milestone.
It's pretty bloody cool seeing how much of what we've worked on is now live and actually happening!
Seeing all three offers operating together and mums progressing through the client pathway we've spent so much time building feels like a huge milestone.

She came in with too many ideas and no clue what to do first. This is how she describes her week now.

This week really feels less like I need to figure out what's next and more like I need to implement, document and keep doing the things we already know work.
I don't feel like I'm constantly wondering what I should sell, what I should post, what offer I should create or what I should do next anymore. I feel like I understand my business, who it's for, how women move through it and how I want it to fit around my life.

She finished our coaching with this.

There's obviously still heaps to learn and improve, but it feels very fucking cool to finish our coaching with an actual BUSINESS running rather than just a collection of ideas.

She started out thinking she was too dumb to run a business.

6 months after we started she left me this review.

5 star review from Whitney Poaru about her 6 months working with Mira, saying she went from thinking she wasn't smart enough to run, operate or grow her business to fully believing in herself and the decisions she makes each day, that Mira taught her to strip her business back to the foundations, helped her grow in a sustainable way that suits her life with two small kids, and helped her get clear on what she can offer and when.
